The Parish
The Parish show on Wednesday went quite well. Thanks to David, Lauren, Derek, Dutcher and Ya'el for feeding our octopus. They did a great job, and he was quite happy to be performing. I'm negotiating with his agent regarding future performances, and I'm sure we'll be able to strike a deal suitable for all involved.

Julie got to feel the 'alien' in her stomach kick around a bit while we were playing... That was pretty neat. Perhaps it's a bass player. I'll have to ask her which song seemed to elicit the most enthusiastic response. I'm sure she'll say it was Babydoll.

Bryan has taken off for a few weeks to help out with harvest in the vast metropolis of Groom, TX. I'm thinking it's wheat that they're harvesting. I should know this by now, but I don't. Cotton happens during Thanksgiving. That's all I know.

As for me, I'm working on my stop motion animation movie, continuing with my general stuffed animal interest that spurred on the octopus construction project. I'll try to link to some shots when they're presentable.

What's next for us? Writing songs for a new album. Playing some more great shows. We'll keep you posted. - posted by log @ 10:23 AM |

The Parish - June 13, 2007

We'll be at The Parish (Austin) on Wednesday, June 13 with Mice & Rifles and The Drawing Board. We go on at 10:30. We'll have a few fun surprises... well, one in particular. It just might involve an underwater sea creature.

This creature is not, however, our new guitarist, Carissa. She, in fact, lives quite above water and will be breathing regular old air as she takes the stage with The Casting Couch for the second time.

Please come out and support us in our first Parish endeavor.

May 14th Correction
It was recently pointed out to me that our shows page listed a show at Flipnotics, Austin, TX on May 12. It's actually Monday, May 14th at 8 p.m. It'll be a solo show - just me (wendy). The New Site...
Welcome back... Our new site is up, and we're quite happy. There are a few features that are yet to come, but for now, we're glad to have an updated link to the world and so forth.

You're wondering, what has The Casting Couch been doing all this time? Well, we've been surviving the general day-to-day, writing songs, learning songs, getting material ready for our upcoming album...

Bryan has been busy finishing up his band's album (The Wailing Walls, Long Live the Infidel). One more session and it's off to the mixing board.

We're gearing up for SXSW, as is the rest of Austin. There's a certain buzz, a certain excitement, a certain dread of a distant Monday morning...

Then we'll be playing a Flaming Lips tribute night in San Marcos, TX.

Between now and then, we'll play a few shows and debut new songs and a new line-up.

this week on the casting couch...
aside from the official SXSW schedule of showcases, that is, here's where to find the day shows!!

you gotta go looksee at the only two resources you could possibly need for daytime SXSW enjoyment: showlist austin and lil' deb's monkey ranch. they'll update you on everything you need to know, including what's free, what's not, where things are, who's playing where, etc....

of course, pay special attention to the fact that the casting couch will be playing at three day shows...

FRIDAY 3/17:

1PM @ spiderhouse (2908 Fruth St.) (even though showlist austin has us at 3, we're really playing at 1!!!)

SATURDAY 3/18
progress coffee, austin mopeds, and urban pollution party:
12:30PM @ progress coffee (500 San Marcos St., two blocks East of IH35 on 5th St.)

2:45PM @ Red's Scoot Inn (1308 E.4th St.)
